You'd be better off with the one you posted from rock auto..... The mounting plate is easily fixed... The pertronix is really only designed to eliminate adjusting points... it's not designed to give a hotter spark....2 points

I was researching and didn't want to spend thousands on rad and IC setup, so I saw icehouses build and thought that was way better and easier to replace if I ever damage it. Speaking of damage. The cam sensor cover thing had a part missing and was a bit gross inside. Removed the broken cover and found this nice clear one for a reasonable price. Cleaned up all the corrosion and reassembled. Next I turned my attention to the exhaust studs, I knew after removing the manifold that I would need to replace them as some of the nuts were stuck to the studs. I ordered up a set that had copper coated nuts for again a reasonable price. They even have the hex tips for easy installation these are going into the trash Nice new ones Holes thread chased and new studs put in for now. I will clean the surface later. Next I went about enlarging the trans tunnel hole to fit the 6 speed. (I will clean the surface rust later and treat it, probably means I need to hurry up and finish this car so I can have it painted) Little trim Set my Datsport cover over to see how it looks. I think I will actually cut much larger and use rivnuts to hold the Datsport cover on for easy removal of the shifter for later in its life. I will maybe make a flange so it sits nicely after a bit of body work. I still need to enlarge parts of the tunnel for clearance. Here I test fit the radiator. I used these m6 isolators that are 10mm thick. They keep the rad tight up against the core support with a few mm gap. I will prob use rivnuts in the support to mount the isolators to instead of nuts on the back side. I think it will be cleaner and easier to service later. The rad looks good in there. I need to order some more m6 bolts to hold the other corners of the rad as it's only mocked up with two bolts. Next I decided to remove my cheap knock off door locks and use some NOS 240Z ones I found and took them apart to rekey so all my locks now match with OEM locks and keys. I can now use my fancy kill switch key too 🙂 Slowly sorting through the lock wafers to find the correct ones to fit. There are 6 in each lock. Rekeyed and ready to be put back together. Don't mind the pink grease. It's my RC car grease, but it works great to rebuild these. All installed for now. I am really liking how it's all coming together finally. Still a lot to do, but the vision is coming full circle.2 points

The tub is currently sitting on the 4x4s of the cart, I was going to leave it supported by the 4x4s and build a jig to keep the front end aligned from there. With the on-slot of rainy days, my ability to things I normally do out doors has become very limited especially on weekends when the kids aren't working and need quiet home time, I'm challenged to find things to do on my car. I found a piece of barbarque that was the same 22 gauge as the block off plate for the RHD wiper hole and took to making a replacement. I measured and laid out the holes, a 3/8th bit was close enough for the 10 mm holes but I don't have a hole saw close to the 32mm for the wiper pivot, so I just drilled them all with the 3/8th and because 22 gauge is so thin I just used the curved cutter tin snips, then finished it with the rat tail file. A little marking out the crease with the rounded edge chisel on the mudflap and it was easy to bend the corner up like the original. The rain stopped for a few hours and the sun enticed me out to paint the plate and clean up the cowl drain rust trap. I had the car rolled out and was exploring for rust perforations with the wire brush on the grinder when I felt a wet splat on my hand, it was raining! I grabbed everything put it in the car then pushed it back in the shop. I dried off the exposed metal with a towel before remembering the plate. Luckily it was fairly dry so the raindrops didn't mar the paint to bad. The place where most cars rust through, this car hadn't, when I got the car I cleaned the center cowl drain out with a garden hose flowing water into the top and a coat hanger up from beneath. I did however find some major rust pitting on the inside where the edge of the sound deadening insulation rested on the tunnel. I will have to put some little patches in there but I was thinking there would be a good reason to replace the wrinkles the factory pressing left in the metal but no. It looked like I would just need to replace the bottom 3cm of the cover piece then I thought about the time to weld it and how simple of a piece it was and If I made a new one the only welding I would need to do other than a few plug welds, was to weld it in. It would look better that way too. With the firewall panel in I was looking at laying out where the gas pedal linkage pivot bracket and the stop block goes. I had drawn lines extending onto the trans tunnel with a cardboard straight edge so I could just use them for reference and extend the back onto the new panel when I got it in, you may notice the lines in some of my photos. I always glance in the 4door to remember how things go together but the stop block is different between 69 and 72 so I was looking through stuff looking for a 69 style piece, not finding anything I went back to my photos of this project and saw what it really looked like, resumed the search and found it. I wire brushed it clean, used some rust converter on it and am hoping for a brake in the weather to paint them. With that on hold I pulled out the gas peddle pivot rod, cleaned the rust off with the wire brush and it looks so much nicer in the photo than in real life. I figured I should do the peddles at the same time so I took them out of the box, pulled the pads off, started cleaning and noticed the hole for the push rod had been bored out. Out to the shed to grab the box with peddles and stuff in to collect the best for cleaning up. I picked the best two sets wire brushed them to get ready to paint and now I'm wondering about what other rainy day projects I can do. One of the you tubers I regularly watch is Rat Rods for Africa and one of the things I heard there is "How does a mouse eat an elephant? One small bite at a time." At times I feel like that mouse.2 points

What is needed to rig this one or alter the mounting plate? It sounds like I’m going to need the remote igniter and a different coil. gunna do some research on this today. got a giant box of stuff to redo all the brakes (drums, shoes, cylinders, lines, etc) as well as new gaskets for oil pan and valve cover, LED light for the flashers (got an LES compatible flasher) and new sparks plugs and wires. Gunna try and reduce the oil leak if I can. The previous owner was a dingus he didn’t change the oil, he added oil (it overfilled).1 point

I got a msg from your hacker the other day and I sent a reply. 😉 I’m sorry to bother you but I need a little help from you. I’m applying for an ambassador spot in an online influencer program, can you vote for me please?? Sat 9:21 AM You sent I'm 99% sure this account was hacked and he started another, no. I already posted in this thread or the plandemic thread(Covid 19) that I personally know someone that has worked for one of the Presidents, he said they consider us vermin, something that needs to be exterminated like prairie dogs that have overpopulated the area they live in(he told me this in person), as far as I see, even though this is his opinion of what he believes they think about us, I believe him as these politicians appear to be trying to destroy this country, BTW he voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, I only voted for him in 2020 after seeing first hand how the Democrats acted after losing that 2016 election, if one has a choice of two evils, and seeing what the Democrats have done to this country over the last 4 years(this includes the BLM/Antiva terrorist army which went away without a complaint when the Democrats claimed they had won the 2020 election), I will choose Trump, to me it did not appear he was trying to divide and destroy this Country like it appears the Democrats have been. The democrats/Lincoln project Republicans do not prove wrong anyone that accuses them of something wrong, they just destroy them to shut them up.1 point

Got this mostly sewn up and done, but (unfortunately) not good enough to use. I'm going to let this one rest a bit, and I'm going to strip the other seat and do the springs, foam, etc, etc. I need a break from making pattern pieces and sewing them up. I've gotten better at it, but I need to work on something different for a bit.1 point

The window lickers in Atlanta are back at it again. Some ding-dong's decided it would be fun to shoot fireworks off of the roof of a building and burned down a massive apartment complex. https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/massive-apartment-building-fire-in-lavista-park-burns-more-than-8-hours1 point

The switch is activated by very low intake vacuum indicative of full throttle/heavy load. The switch tells the ignition module in the distributor to turn the exhaust side coil off. It also advances the ignition timing from 3 to 10? degrees as a single plug cylinder will take longer to burn. Find that gray or dirty white wire wire on the harness to the distributor and unplug it. This will defeat the single plug operation and all plugs will fire all the time. Nissan's reason for single plug running? It says to reduce engine noise under heavy load.1 point

Yup that is the remote igniter EI distributor. Nothing wrong with it and is the same as the matchbox but the remote igniter box isn't miniaturized and would be mounted under the dash. Still you can substitute an HEI module from an old GM distributor and buy an EI coil from a '78-'80 620 or S10 200sx. Just ignore the 1.6 ohm coil rating. You need the 0.75-1.0 ohm EI coil to go with this for the high output spark.1 point

That will probably work... I think the el12 was a suggested one from someone.... I actually recommend the adjustable flasher units.... if you ever change to leds you can easily adjust the flash rate....1 point

Check the gasket on the fuel level sender on the tank and the rubber filler neck hose if it has one. Our 1978 'Bulletside' 620 pickup has a slider back window from new. I'm the second owner. Anytime I added gas, and not even a fill-up, when I left the station, if the back window was open, there was always a strong fresh gas odor and it would last for a couple days till the next fuel add. I replaced the rubber connect between the filler neck hose and the tank and the issue pretty much went away.1 point

A few minutes later... Ok so it has been 5 1/2 years. So much has happened in that time. Life has ups and downs as we all know. I haven't done a thing to the car in that time except move it to my new house. The good news is I still have this car and a place to keep it so lets get started again. I recently made a list of things to get going on the car. I thought I would start by assembling with the parts I have on hand before I get too carried away buying more. Well that doesn't work in the real world so here we go, I picked up a headliner and all the rubber weather strip I need to start assembly. Datsport has the best option for rubber components at fair prices, but the shipping is another matter. Since that can't be helped I spent my bonus at the Datsport store. Headliner first before glass installation. I decided to go with a black headliner as I really don't like white interior anything. It may be because i work on cars all day and have to keep them clean. We checked for photos of the removal phase of the project to see which holes the bows go into. I posted those removal pictures in this thread 10 years ago! Having someone who has done this many times before was soooo helpful. Thanks for spending the day with me Jeff! First we put the headliner in with the bows in correct order. I stocked up on binder clips from Amazon. Between that and Jeff's stash we had a ton of them. Based on how things went today, I recommend the large clips as they seem to be stronger. Stretch and clip. Stretch and clip etc. Glue in place as best as possible and call it a day. Since I could only get 2 photos to attach without rotating them this will have to do for now. More progress soon I hope.1 point

Did some pre assembling on the dash and radio mock up. Decided to go with radio as it is very compact and has buoy in speakers. The holes in the firewall for the speaker were deleted. The inspiration for the cluster area. I think it’s from a euro 68 deluxe dash ? Anyone know what this steering wheel is from ?1 point

The elbows are copper plumbing fittings from the hardware store that I soldered together. The idea started when I set out to repair the hose connection from the RH side of the heater box. The pipe had cracked away from the mounting bracket as you can see here: After taking it all apart and blasting it in the cabinet, I found that it was soldered together during manufacture. Since plumbing solder fixed the bracket really well, why not see if the pipe size would fit some plumbing pieces I had laying around? Well they do so there you go. I did feel the need to add the brace you see to the pipe that leads to the heater valve. I did not want any vibration issues. The grommet is a common part on Toyota/Lexus vehicles. I got that Idea at work when I had to remove the climate box on a customer car. If you cant find one at the junk yard, they are not that expensive.1 point
