  1. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the tax rates, but you are oversimplifying and being disingenuous with this type of post. The entirety of income is not taxed at the top marginal tax rate, only a portion (above X amount is). To say someone is paying 90% of their income is false. I don't know what any of you guys are doing financially...I assume most people on ratsun fall somewhere into the lower to mid middle class range of income earners. Right now I guess I'd be at the lower end and I pay next to nothing in effective tax rates (even was negative last year). I can't complain, not sure why anyone else would either, aside from seeing the gross waste and misappropriation of the funds govt does receive.

  2. These "vaccine's" that are the magic bullet for everyone's life to get back to normal are still the brand new ones made this year that are under trial aren't they? I can understand a person assessing the risks for themselves and opting to take it, but the mental leap to forcing it upon all when as far as I am aware a trial that isn't complete is still a fucking trial. Comparing this to existing vaccine's takes some real mind bending thought processes. Existing vaxs have decades of results for a person to look at before choosing to take. These are less than 18mnths in the population which would also mean you have no fucking idea what the results will be 5 years, or 10 years. Given the fact that they are proving to be essentially useless after 4 months I fail to see ROI being worth the risk? You don't need fancy statistics and some gov bureaucracy to tell you what to think, if you were at a used car yard and the salesman was selling you the equivalent pitch your bullshit meter would be off the charts. But 6months of fear porn and every fucker is now thinking they have the moral high ground to enforce what every body else does. As sure as the wind will pick up the second I pull out a sump plug , I am sure there is going to be some bad shit happen from these experiments, it doesn't take much, look at the cluster fuck that is going on with a "covid" death rate of .02%. If in 2 years they realise that 1% of the people who have taken the Vax is going to die, shit is going to get real. Or all could be well and nothing could happen, I may consider it then. What I am interested in watching is the mental gymnastics of the Vax enforcers if it does go south, would be hard to mentally reconcile when your neighbours kids are all fucked up from this little corporate business venture and you have been out there being a good little salesman. Seppuku would be a answer to that issue I suppose.

  3. I used to work for a company that had dealings in the oil patch in northern Alberta. To even put in project bids the company had to have a drug testing policy in place and be certified. There was the remote chance that any worker 'down south' might have to go up there and work on some project so all employees are all pre approved. Most companies have a zero tolerance for drugs. Smaller ones just fire your ass, some can afford programs for offenders. The offenders that really care, clean up, the others move down the food chain. Kind of a relief to know the operator swinging that excavator bucket near your head is less likely to be hungover from drugs. Or the dump truck backing up doesn't have an impaired driver. Plenty of others waiting to fill that job who are clean.

  4. I work in the maritime industry and get drug tested often. If an officer gets popped the coast guard takes his licences. First offence they hold it for a year while you complete a drug program and test clean. 2nd time it's over for good. Same thing if you get a DUI you lose your license and go through alcohol rehab. Try to hide anything and again you are banned for life.

  5. If it was simple yea or nay it's easy. If the nay side comes with insurmountable obstacles and conditions while the yea has virtually none in comparison, your choice could be said to be unfairly narrowed down for you. Who hasn't had to select something other than what they wanted and said "I had to chose this, I had no/little choice." I haven't used in decades till this year and then only barely. Started legally growing my own high, (brownies) ..... why not, I'm no longer working, not driving, no kids to watch out for. Shits everywhere in stores. When ever the old lady is in a good mood I just know she ate some chocolate. Hope no piss test for mods.

  8. Once I adjust the dipstick stopper down it read about 3 quarts. Topped it to about 4.5. It could have been a lot of money not wisely spent. Not to mention all the time that this may have cost. I wonder if this was why it was so low priced? Maybe the po thought it was internal and something major. That's where my mind was at..... Installing the sender and wire as was. I know the oil light is operating properly now.

  12. I have had to make many choices when neither option was attractive or desirable. Many that resulted in situations that I didn’t like. That’s life. I don’t need to make the choice to get vaccinated to keep my job. I made the choice for myself, for my own reasons, months ago. I made an informed decision that I felt was the best for me. I don’t need anyone or any government to coerce me into making a choice. I am a freethinking individual, capable of managing my own affairs.

  14. Yep and the more valuable your home the more you pay in property taxes. Seems to get lost on the people who say the rich don't pay their fair share. I guess the folks with the fancy houses should use the roads more, public schools more, police and fire protection more to get their moneys worth. Some states you get taxed more to drive expensive vehicles. I guess driving my shitboxes is shoving it to the Man!

  17. Everyone is always at choice in everything they do, and everything they say, everyday. Every person always has a choice and to take ownership of their choice. Regarding getting a vaccination, or not, the choice lies with the individual. If an individual doesn't want to get a vaccination, they have to accept whatever goes with that choice. No other person can bear the consequences of that choice, one the person who makes that choice. If an individual wants to get a vaccination, that is their choice, and they too have to own whatever goes with that choice. You make your choice and live with it. I'll support your right to make whatever choice you choose, and wish you the best. I've made mine, as all the millions of choices I have made in my life. I own those choices, and hold no one else accountable for them.

  18. That is where I was leaning with wide drafts and the exhaust right there as well. Also I was leaning towards a nylon carbon filament supposedly good up to about 200* F

  19. I have considered it for my down draft Weber's onto vg33. More as a mock, I have got onto a foundry that specialises in one off's and small runs. I am looking at a 3d scanner in the future as I think that would be the easiest way. I'm not sure what filament you are considering, I use mainly petg. I don't thing it would hold up long term. I've seen where people bake the print after to further strengthen it. But on side drafts with an exhaust manifold close I don't like its chances.

  23. Nothing much to update, trucks been fine since last weekend.... Nothing else popped up due to the fire..... I did get some more parts for winter projects... the last couple years I have done large upgrades, due to budget cuts, basically spending all my spare money on a dog, this year will be about taking care of small annoying problems.... One of those has been exhaust leaks. I purchased a 4 pack of vband clamps and flanges....

  24. I fixed the upside down image problem in GIMP, maybe. I'm using generic M8x1 studs on the valve cover. On that stud, I needed to raise the air cleaner assembly to fit flat on the carb, so I put a M8 nut on it. On top of that, I installed these cool OEM-Toyota washer grommets, which were supposed to work on my 2F's air cleaner assembly, but, they seem small compared to the original ones. Then, I capped it all with a M8 fender washer, and a thin washer. Using a wrench from the bottom, I compress the washer/grommet, and it holds the air cleaner assembly with minimal metal to metal contact. This is the Toyota part number for the washer/grommet. And, the wing nut, for the air cleaner housing, is essentially the same thing, but, it has a captive wing nut on the same grommet/washer, again, minimizing metal-to-metal contact, but also forming a bit of a seal. It comes from an '82 Toyota 2F gas engine, I forget the part number, but it is available. @captain720 I like the fender fuse block for accessories. You mentioned a ground, on the fender or bib. I've been thinking that it would be nice to make a good connection to the horn(s) chassis, as the screw that grounds it, also attaches it thru the fender. This means that fender contaminate can corrode the back of the electrical connection, so it might be good to add a wired connection, from the horns, to something akin to your fuse / junction block - or, that is the plan for mine. Insuring the horn's reliability could do more for you than headrests and seatbelts, depending on the situation, just a thought.

  25. Yeah, I have a $500,000 capital loss carryover am broke and living on Social Security in a house rats wouldn't live in. When I die, that loss evaporates and the IRS makes out. I have to laugh, the IRS screwed me when I started my job at P&W and then when I lost my job. I have a friend that worked for the SBA and was threatened by another gov employee from the GAO to give his buddy a loan. There were guys in the SBA approving loans for a couple sacks of grass seed. I don't mind paying taxes but not to these thieving sweaty donkey ball sucking fucktards. Vents closed.... LOL

  27. It cannot ever be regular and can only be random, and among ALL staff. One lab I worked in only put the labor talent into the pool of random selection when the office had the worst drug issues. CEO literally was buying drugs from one of the Machinists, yet he was exempt from the drug testing...

  28. So one bloody test???? WTF????? No wonder. Needs to be regular or random or waste of time isn't it?
    1 point
  29. Not following. Drug testing should weed out the assholes that are responsible for our safety. Not necessarily burger flippers more like bus and semi drivers, pilots, police, military. What's wrong with that? Exercise in control??? Like being made to wear seat belts?

  30. Drugs continued to proliferate in the work space regardless of piss testing. Just like the "war" on drugs this policy didn't have an impact on stopping anything. Well i suppose denying a person unemployment after they had an accident, but that was about it.

  32. Maybe we should change "forced" into "bribed" ? What is this "eradication is a dream i concocted" ? I've never made a suggestion that the vaccine eradicates Covid.Maybe California now has a lower infection rate because we had a higher infection rate some time ago ? Isn't Los Angeles still a mess ? And i don't trust whatever is being reported, who would be dumb enough to trust everything we've heard as absolute truth ? They're all over the place with what they tell us.Remember "two weeks to flatten the curve" ? That was over a year and a half ago.Remember "no masks necessary" just to be changed a few weeks later. Now two masks.Get the vaccine and you don't have to wear a mask, now it doesn't matter if you're vaccinated or not, wear that mask.Kids were fine and somewhat immune to Covid a year ago,now they want them vaccinated ? So which is it ? If you're outdoors and alone you don't need a mask yet we watch our President stroll out to his helicopter, alone and outside wearing a mask.Yea i trust all of this back and forth changing of the rules and different opinions from all involved. Now have i forced you to ignore me or is it a choice ?

  34. But it's not like a conventional vaccine. It's a much different method, which is part of the reason people are skeptical - it doesn't have a fully fledged or tested track record. You can't say the effects are going to be the same. Plus, as we're seeing, its efficacy is not as high as purported.

  37. On the cheap? Cheap or limited funds is all relative. Cheap to you might mean you only have $10K to spend on it. Cheap to me... It will cost the same to rebuild an L16 as it will to rebuild an L20b and instant 20hp increase. Transmission leak is probably the $5 rear seal and a couple of hours to change. Z car transmission? like a 5 speed?? The 620 and the 810/Maxima use the same one and likely cheaper if not from an actual Z car. Five speeds are only good for highway driving, if mostly in town don't bother. A five speed does not make a stock car faster. If really set on EFI get a KA24E or KA24DE with transmission. Lot of work and $$$. But tons of power and reliable starting and running without the constant 'tuning/maintenance' of the stock points and carburetor. Suspension New shocks on the back right off... The fronts you can remove the struts and disassemble and pour out the thin watery hydraulic oil and replace with thicker 20W motorcycle fork oil to stiffen it up. That's about $15 and that's for the expensive stuff. While apart you can cut the bottom spring perch off and with a little math calculate and cut a coil or so off the coil spring to increase the spring rate. Now assemble and use a pair of $20 2" split collar clamp to support the spring perch. The ride height is now adjustable and the dampers (shocks) renewed and firmer. All for under $50.... talk about cheap. Naturally this does not improve the brakes. For that the '79-'83 280zx struts (turbo struts are the same) are a well documented up grade with massive calipers and larger vented rotors. You may need to switch to 14" rims* for clearance. These will drop the front slightly as is, but there is always the above modifications and you will have to cut the zx spring perches off anyway. Also the stock 3/4" master cylinder may be overwhelmed by the 280zx calipers and give a mushy brake pedal. If no brake booster try a 13/16 or 7/8" master. * Know in advance what off set you need to keep the tires inside the fenders before you fall in love and impulse buy a set. After all, the car will be lower and there are bumps in the road.

  43. Good to have in mind. I plan on doing an engine swap for the next phase of my build and I'm ultimately thinking of going V6. I saw a Rat Rod a few years ago on the web, the guy used a BMW M series something V8 and it was quite cool & different (see below). He had a running car to use to sort out what was needed & what wasn't before doing the actual swap. While not my style of build, I really like when someone thinks outside the box.
