  1. Well it's been 4 years since I posted this. I ended up buying a new place in 2018. It didn't have a shop but it did have a slightly bigger garage. Fast forward 4 years.. Today I received the engineered plans for a 1920 sqft shop building in my back yard. Next up permits and away we go. 🙂

  2. Couldn't make heads or tails of the Spectra website so I called Stan's who gave me a quote over the phone so Brenda drove up and dropped off the cores for me. (thanks sweet pea) I got a call a week later that they tried to repair the better looking of the two units and every time they would repair one channel, the next one would leak. They finally gave up and ordered a replacement core. I was thankful that they tried. A repair was going to run about $150. The re-core was going to be $300. $319 in fact. It was ready a week later. Here it

  3. I have the ability to take a part number and display all the other vehicles it was used on. For example the side gear from a 720 R-180 front differential is the same and also used on the 280zx, the Maxima and the S12 200sx R-180 but not on the 240/260/2280 z car nor on the 810's R-180. It might fit but the axle stub splines may be different. The dowel may simply be slightly longer or shorter to make it different. Like an emissions hose length.

  4. Look what I bought today on ebay for my 520. I bought it for the air cleaner, I thought the crushed look was stunning!!! LOL This might be an un used Weber I will no when I pull it apart after I put it on a Z24 I have and see if it works. Never seen a Weber air cleaner like this one.

  7. Got to work cleaning and prepping the door panels as well. Looks like I just smeared the dirt around more than cleaned it.

  8. Made the carpet for the rear window. It’ll be glued to padding and over the wood that’s up there. The plan it to put some speakers back there as well.. so it’ll get cut up at some point.

  12. A coworker just bought a 2017 Ecoboost Mustang. She immediately had a zorst put on, because she's cool like that. I had her blip the throttle for me this morning and it does sound sweet. When she drove off, I could hear the turbo spooling up, kinda like you hear on a diesel... but better. Anyhoo, hearing her rumbly zorst made me miss the Dajiban. I intend to drive it home from the shop tomorrow night. That's it. Just came in here to wash my head at y'all. Carry on.

  13. That would be a task for me... I have to do it by myself with a jerry rigged crane, I'm afraid if I put it on I wont take it back off..... Everyone that has done the coilovers on the datsun trucks, at least that I have asked about, all used the 250 springs so I'm confident with the bed weight they will be ok..... I was able to make the ride a little better around town by loosening the dampening/rebound.... My bigger concern is I'm close to the coilovers extended high, not in the recommended sweat spot for the ride height..... And as I said sprin

  17. Z20 is a front sump oil pan that fits an L block, bit of an issue you might run into with angle of the dangle between L and Z for the oil pickup due to the block angle difference. But it at least it would give you a starting point (I'm working on a Z22 into my 510 so been looking at this, keep trying to decide if I want to go LZ instead).

  19. Yeah, about 6 hours total. And that’s with me climbing through a jungle gym of 2 engine stands, a press, and a cherry picker with parts and tools strewn about, while also working on the L20b.

  20. I should receive this carb and air cleaner around April 17 as this was an Ebay purchase. Mr Tanker do you have any idea how old this air cleaner might be? Slowlearner thank you for the feed back. I will most likely soda blast the air cleaner first. If that does not work then I will use a more aggressive abrasive media. If the carb turns out to be good then it will be installed on the Z20 engine that will go in my 86 720 King Cab. This truck I will eventually sell after I get my 84 74 King Cab ST on the road. I have a new Weber DGEV

  23. Next comes vinyl prep/softener and paint. Same process as I did on the front door panels. Using landau black vinyl paint and chrome pen for the panel detail.

  29. I already ordered the shaft bearing kit and I agree, I'd just as soon install them now to reduce the mystery-solving later on. Now I'm thinking about not swapping the Hitachi throttle lever right away to see if the Weber lever/spring/bracket setup works OK. I think I'll dry fit everything and try it out before gluing down the gaskets and final torqueing.

  30. This should be it..... Please verify the part number, I dont want to be responsible if wrong.... https://www.ebay.com/itm/274718115300 Where I found it.... https://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/pickup-1972-1979/engine-(l16)/cylinder-block And like I said dealer has them, might even be in stock if your lucky....

  31. Awesome thanks for the advice. The rad for the truck I have is a special order that will take time to get and it costs half again as much as the d21 rad

  32. Likely yes. Next easy step is to pull the motor and before getting a new one, put 12v directly to the motor and see if it runs. If it won't run hooked straight to 12v then its dead and go from there.
