Description

I currently have the single-port thermostat housing on my L16 and I need to add a second temp sensor. I don't see a great spot to tap my lower thermostat housing so I am looking to replace with a later unit, which appear to be a bolt-in replacement with more sensor options. If anybody has one they are willing to sell, please reach out!

Easiest most common one would be any L20B which have the TVV (thermal vacuum valve) for the EGR. It's probably not the correct thread or size but could be made to work.  The one shown is for the L28 in the Z car/810 (EFI) and would need the fitting for the thermostat by pass hose. 

 

In '79 all L series switched to three bolt thermostat covers so if using one you will also need the matching top with it.

Thanks DatzenMike, I did see several of these available on eBay fairly cheap. My concern is whether additional temp sensor in the upper hole would touch / interfere with the thermostat. It’s hard to tell based on pictures alone what the clearance would look like. I’ll see if I can’t find one local.
