Description

Datsun 510

1972 Datsun 510 Station Wagon with a VG30 Swap with 5 Speed Transmission.  Many modifications have been made over the years since I purchased the car in 2005.  It's time for the car to have a new home.  I would be willing to discuss reasonable offers.  Paint was done in 2010 and is in good shape.  

Engine

Nissan Rebuilt VG30 (W Series) with less than 5000 miles. Block is stock except as noted.

Pathfinder Intake.

Cams are Jim Wolf Technology S1 Set (.440”/260 Deg) installed with Russ

 
   

         Charlton adjustable cam gears.  Schnieder Racing Valve Springs.

 

Heads have 3 angle performance valve job.

Oil Pump is from VG30ET (Z31) with higher flow.

Engine mounts, headers (short tube) and oil pan with pickup from Experimental Engineering.

Remote oil filter with oil cooler and thermostat.

Rear mount turbo system with a Precision 5558 with .64 AR.  Air to water intercooler.  Turbo is running with a 8 lbs spring but includes boost controller with adjustability to 18 lbs or more.

With 8 lbs boost the engine made 240 HP and 258 ft lbs torque.  At 18 lbs boost the engine made 330 HP and 345 ft lbs torque.

Engine control is provided by a Haltech Elite 2000 ECU with the following features

·      Boost Control (with potentiometer on dash)

·      Knock Sensor

·      LS Coils (stock distributor to trigger the ignition crank angle and cam angle)

·      Injectors are Bosch EV14 0280158298 and have been flow tested.

·      Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

·      Flex Fuel Sensor (not tuned for e85)

Drive Train

Clutch is Jim Wolf 87-89 Z31T Hi Perf Pressure Plate with disc with a Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel.  Rated up to 450 ft. lbs.

Transmission is a FS5w71 from a Z31 (300ZX) rebuilt.

Custom drive shaft

RX7 (84 GSL SE with limited slip) narrowed by John Wallum to fit the 510 Wagon.  It includes the stock disc brake rebuilt with working E brake.

Differential rebuilt by Ben Herne (PuddyMod) with custom solid steel sleeve (in place of crush sleeve) with 3.63 ratio.

 

Wheels and Tires

             Watananbe SSR RS-8'S 15X6.5 +18 AND 15X7 +27.....fit a non flared 510 perfect when lowered.

             

Tires are staggered YOKOHAMA ADVAN's they are 185/55/15 front and 205/50 15 rear and are 2-3 years old

 

Suspension

Front Coil Overs with bump steer spaces on 280ZX struts.  Koni Front Dampers.

Datsun Restomods (EPAS) Electric Assist Power Steering Kit.  Kit features a Toyota Prius Motor and controller.

Front Brakes are 280ZX Disc with power booster.

1” front swaybar.

Rear Leaf springs de-arched and stiffened to lower rear. Tracton Bars to prevent spring wrap.  KYB Shocks.
