Description
‘86 720 longbed, Z24, manual 2WD.
Hasn’t been a daily driver for years (sits more than it drives these days), but it always starts right up after some pedal pumping then on first crank. Lived in Sunny CA it's whole life.
This was a fun hands-on Covid project with my son to teach him engine mechanics—carb swaps, tune-ups, brake work, seals, etc. He’s learned a bunch wrenching on it together, but now it’s time to move it along to someone who’ll keep it rolling or tinker further.
Runs strong: idles smooth, pulls good, no smoke/knocks/leaks worth mentioning. Stuff we’ve done:
• Swapped original electric carb for Holley (better response, easier tuning—awesome upgrade if you’re not in smog-land, but zero chance in CA)
• New plugs and wires
• New master clutch cylinder
• Steering column gear oil seal
• New tires all the way around
Usual 720 caveats (nothing sneaky):
• Driver’s side front corner got hit a couple years ago. headlight blinker assembly needs replaced and the front panel has a ding.
• AC long dead (delete it or chase the leak—your call)
• Small surface rust spot on hood (no holes, no major rot; cab/bed/rockers/frame look straight from inspections—no classic 720 cancer spots)
Great as-is driver, parts hauler, or project base. Longbeds hold value in the community, especially runners. No clue on Mileage.
