Description

Looking for the plate that holds the distributor on its timing mark for a L20B motor.

Recommended Questions

There are 3 different plates for L20B, it depends on which distributor you have. What is the model number stamped on the side of the distributor body?

My distributor is from Amazon, no numbers on the side.  Eletronic distributor from Boursin for L16, L18, L20b, 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L motors.

My plate has about 107 degrees on center slot to center slot angle does not fit - the tab hits the AC lines and has very little  room to move the dizzy for timing.

The base is 45 degrees and no third tab with timing marks.

Would the plate that is either a 90 slot to slot angle or the plate with about a 59 degree slot to slot angle do the job?

Thank you

Jim

The timing plate in your photo is the one that belongs with the Boursin distributor

The question is which L20B pedestal is the matching one?

Boursin

This was being discussed earlier this month: see E Bay Distributor

@Jim Jans, the problem is the plate needs to match the distributor -- some distributors have the screw hole at a different place than others. It's why this has been discussed endlessly on Ratsun for the last 15 years ... and almost no one includes measurements, so it largely remains a mystery. In my opinion the best thing to do is to get the right pedestal, however many have modified the plate they have to work, usually by cutting slots in the plate so it can be bolted to a different pedestal or a different distributor

ggzilla: I am going to use the plate that came with my Amazon distributor, but I need to grind off a bit to clear the AC line.  I have a '92 KA 2.4 e motor and a L20B dizzy with an aftermarket AC system from Classic Auto Air and the hoses are right next to the plate.  I was hoping a different plate would do the job.  But my timing marks line up, the only issue is the plate hits the AC line, so a little trim and I am good to go.  The AC compressor just fits (2ed photo).

Thank you for all your help.
