Description

The time has come for me to let go of some of my Datsun toys.  For sale is my 1975 Datsun 280Z.  Odometer shows 4366, but believed to be 104366.  I've owned the car since 2014 and have made some changes and updates and driven the car approximately 2500 miles.

Originally, it was an EFI car that would not reliably crank.  So, it was converted to 1972 SU carbs and air cleaner with a later matchbox distributor.  (The EFI parts are included with the car excepting the fuel pump and distributor which seem to be lost).

The transmission has been updated to a 5-speed from a 280ZX and a new clutch installed at that time.  The front struts have been updated and the ride height lowered slightly.  The rear struts were replaced and ride height slightly lowered as well.   Rear brakes are new.  Front brakes were nearly perfect so they were not changed but new pads are included.  The car has 18" alloy wheels.  And, an aftermarket body panel system was installed before the paint job.

As you can tell from the pictures, the body and paint are excellent.  There are a few chips on the aero panels since the car has been driven a lot since it was painted.  When I got the car the interior had been stripped out for painting and only the door panels and seats reinstalled.  I've found and installed almost all of the missing items excepting the rear speakers.

Unfortunately, the dealer's installer skipped the step of installing the A/C evaporator drain tube.  Yep, like many Z cars, the front floorboards were flooded and rusted out.  They have been scabbed over from the inside appear solid and functional.   The A/C compressor is bad and not operational.

Known issues are:  1) The left turn signal is not working and I have been unable to find the cause.  2) The tachometer and the ammeter are not working.  They are known to be good, but during the EFI/Carb conversion some wiring was removed and that has not be reinstalled.  3) Tires are old and should be replaced.

This is a great driving car that runs well, shifts well, has good brakes, etc.  Fix a few minor issues and you will have a good looking, great driving Z car.
