While they are all Z series heads and will swap between engines, the Z24 head (and it's intake) has squarish intake ports with rounded corners while the Z20 and Z22 are round and have notches for EFI injectors. They all have the same combustion chamber size and valve train but the Z20 head does come with a W04 casting number when used in the 720 truck. The W04 casting has a much smaller combustion chamber and when used on the mileage option Z20 produces a 9 to one compression. If accidently placed on a Z24 the 9.5 compression would require higher octane gas.

The W04 head intake port looks about the same as the Z24 head but the exhaust is rounder and looks smaller on the W04.

Would there be any type of change or would it be best to stay with the same type heads?
